Celebrating Occupational Therapy Month
April 29, 2022
April is Occupational Therapy Month, and Cumberland Pointe wanted to recognize our exceptional OT Team! Occupational Therapy is an integral part of the rehabilitation of our residents, and our OT team is filled with experienced Therapists that know just how to get them back on their feet.
In honor of National OT Month we are proud to introduce you to our team. Jennifer Gentry, TPM, graduated from Zane State College and has been with us for almost two years. Next, we have Larissa Hastings, OTR, who graduated from West Virginia University and has been with us for 12 years.

For those that don't know about Occupational Therapy (OT) and what they do, here is a small back story. Occupational Therapy Month originated in 1980, but OT itself dates back almost 100 years. When Occupational Therapy was first initiated it was to help treat patients with mental or emotional disorders. Greek physician, Asclepiades, used massages, exercises, baths and music to soothe and heal patients.
Within our skilled nursing facility and many others, OT is used to help residents feel more comfortable doing their everyday tasks. The goal is to help residents readapt to things like bathing, eating and dressing on their own, along with regaining confidence so they can return back to the community.
We appreciate Jennifer and Larissa so much! Thank you for all that you both do for our residents at Cumberland Pointe. Happy Occupational Therapy Month!
